Dashlane review
Users who want a polished, security-forward app with extras bundled.
Overview
Dashlane has been in the category longer than most and still ships one of its most polished experiences: confident autofill, clean apps, strong phishing alerts and historically bundled extras like a VPN. It moved early on passkeys and publishes its security architecture clearly. The trade-offs: pricing sits at the premium end, the free tier is now heavily restricted, and business admin features, while solid, trail 1Password's maturity. A very good manager priced like the best one.
Strengths and weaknesses
What we like
- Polished, confidence-inspiring apps and autofill
- Early, well-implemented passkey support
- Clear public security architecture whitepaper
- Useful extras (dark web monitoring, VPN on premium tiers)
- Strong phishing detection in browser extension
What to watch
- Premium pricing without 1Password's depth
- Free tier restricted to very few items
- Business admin capable but second-tier
- Web-first transition period left some gaps behind

Who Dashlane is for — and who should skip it
Best for
Individuals who value polish and bundled extras, and security-curious users who want strong defaults without configuration.
Probably not for
Budget buyers (Bitwarden), free-tier seekers, and businesses needing deep admin (1Password).
Our verdict — 8.2/10
Dashlane remains a quality product at an awkward price: excellent experience, strong security — but out-valued below it and out-featured above it.
Dashlane, head to head
1Password vs Dashlane
Same price tier; 1Password delivers more of the things that matter.
Dashlane vs NordPass
Dashlane if you'll use the extras; NordPass for the same core job at a third of the price.
